Taurus Energy has made a technical breakthrough, which means that considerable environmental benefits together with reductions in production costs for ethanol can be achieved compared to existing methods.
TAURUS ENERGY
Cost-effective & environmentally friendly production of ethanol – tomorrow’s motor fuel.
Taurus Energy has developed a new method for the production of ethanol from forestry and agricultural waste. The method, which is protected by 14 internationally patented microbiological processes, makes it possible to produce ethanol with the help of renewable raw materials that previously could not be exploited. Taurus Energy’s method means considerable environmental benefits, at the same time as production costs for ethanol are reduced dramatically compared to existing methods.
Behind the new method for ethanol production from waste forestry and agricultural waste is a research group comprising leading experts from eight countries. As a range of different raw materials can be used - some examples are straw, maize and sunflower stalks and waste forestry material, the method can, in principle, be used by producers the world over.
Taurus Energy’s business will be, via licence agreements, to give rights to energy users use the method in the global market
Ethanol as a motor fuel is advancing strongly today as a result of rising oil prices and an increasingly strict international environmental legal framework. The world market for ethanol as motor fuel is soon estimated to reach more than SKr 300 bn a year.
The majority ownership in Taurus Energy is Forskarpatent I Syd AB, which specialises in creating commercial opportunities built upon patenting and licensing of inventors’ developments.
Today Taurus Energy is located at the Ideon Science Park in Lund, southern Sweden.
